Helping people with allergies

I’m wondering if any of you can help me out.
I’m allergic to cats and dogs, dustmites and grass.
However, I do love animals. I was diagnosed with asthma and these
allergies about a year ago. I’m thankful I didn’t have any pets at the
time I had to move out of my home. I’m leery of any type of animal
with fur or feathers. I do have an aquarium with fish, but they just
aren’t very snuggly.

I’m wondering about hedgehogs. I’m curious if I could react to them
adversely at all like I do with cats and dogs.
Does anyone know if their urine or excrement is terribly odorous? (Any
strong odors give me problems).

I thought of reptilian creatures but they aren’t terribly affectionate
and often are quite smelly I’ve heard.

If anyone has any suggestions for a type of pet that I might not have
an allergic reaction to please let me know. Or personal information
regarding this subject.

Vicky

The fish are getting tired of me trying to pet them and I’m sure hope
I find a different kind of animal. ; )

Food Allergies – HELP!!!!!

Hi.  My friend has some life-threatening food allergies. (ie:  nuts) She
is also allergic to chocolate, and is lactose intolerant.  Does anyone know
where I can find a list of foods, and/or food ingredients for her to avoid?
Labels can be pretty confusing sometimes, with all of those long chemical
names, and there may be things to avoid that we don’t know about.  It
happened to her today, after eating some popcorn…..even though she read
the label on the bag first, and it seemed ok.  Any information would be
most appreciated.  Please e-mail to LMag…@aol.com.  Thanks all!!!!

A question about sweat..

Is there something known about the sweat of blonde
haired mixed race peoples?
I have this problem where my sweat destroys white
shirts at the armpit. It turns yellow in a matter of
several wearings. I am a very clean guy, I take at
least two shower a day and I’ve tried many different
deoderants. I’ve noticed, at the gym I go to, that
other guys with blonde hair and of mixed ethnicity
have this problem too.
So is there anything known about this?

Legislation–Altrnative Choices?

My doctor gave me a sheet of information regarding legislation that
would give ALL of us the right to access alternative medicine.  We do
not have that right presently!  Our traditional doctors (MDs) can be
and frequently are harassed or censured for providing or prescribing
non-conventional therapies.  So don’t blame your doctor if he is
close-lipped about many of the alternative choices that could help
you.  He may not have that choice.

Call your senators and representatives and say:  "I’m a registered
voter in (name of state) and I strongly support Senate Bill #578 (or
House Bill 746), "THE ACCESS TO MEDICAL TREATMENT ACT."  I believe it
is supposed to be attached as an amendment to the FDA Reform Bill.

If you don’t know the names of your members of Congress, you can ask
the operator to connect you to the correct person.  Call the Capitol
Hill Switchboard at 202-224-3121 and ask for your member of Congress.

I hope I am not already too late on this post.  If anyone has
additional information or web site specifics on your particular
senators and/or representatives please share it with us.  E-mail
addresses would be a great help?!  Thank you.  Donna B.

sinusitis and conjunctivitis

Whenever I get acute sinus symptoms (PND, facial pain, etc.), I also get
watery eyes and blurred vision.  When I look in the mirror, I see that
my eyes seem to be filling up with this yellow mucus.  When things get
really bad, I get so much yellow mucus in my eyes that when I wake up in
the morning, my eyelids can actually be stuck together from the dried
mucus.  When I’ve been treated for sinusitis with antibiotics, these eye
symptoms have tended to go away too.

If I didn’t have sinusitis, I’d swear I had conjunctivitis.  So what’s
the deal here?  Can sinusitis cause conjunctivitis?  Or can a bacterial
conjunctivitis spread to the sinuses thru the tear ducts?

Coffee (caffeine) intolerance

Has anyone ever experienced a side effect just from the odor of coffee
such as dizziness? Consumption of anything sweet also does this as well
as peppermint flavor gum. I was unable to find anything in the
alt.coffee group (they love their caffeinne as do I) and was wondering
if there is another group for this phenomena.
Thanks,

Kevlar Allergy

Does anyone know of a documented case of contact dermatitus due to an
allergic reaction to Kevlar, a Dupont aramid fiber. The kevlar
material is encased in a cotton carrier garment worn over a tee shirt.
thanks
